what a reception! we successfully 'inducted' (whatever that connotes) the freshers into our alumni (uk) family on the 22nd aug 2009.

all that meticulous planning didn't go to waste - freshers had fun, freshers got to know each other, freshers seemed happy and jitter-free about embarking on their UK adventures...! an afternoon spent running about hwa chong with newfound friends definitely helped to build bonds which hopefully will be used to support one another on the 'other side' (of course playing Totally Not Awkward games like 'Speed Dating' with the opposite gender helped too...and nope, SDU did not pay us a cent)

the month of july has been a busy one for the alumni as we conducted a session for current J2 juniors looking to head to the UK for studies in the future and met the incoming 2009 freshers' faces for the very first time during the British Council's UK Pre-departure fair!

here we are at LT5 of hwachong where representatives of some UK universities gave a short presentation to the eager juniors

Chinese New Year Celebrations

celebrated the new year with a bang - rows of little stalls set up by various student bodies selling everything from green bean soup to very decent tasting muah chee (made from scratch to boot!)
cash prizes were won from lucky draws!
